The simple search
lets users select particular fields (e.g. author, abstract) on which to
search. It has a simple interface for combining searches to broaden or
narrow your search.

The advanced search
gives users broader searching capabilities, including parentheses,
regular expressions, and SOUNDEX (sounds-like) searching. Users just
enter a single search string of their own design.
Both types of searches can respond either through your WWW browser
or by email.
